MUSINGS IN SOCIAL ISOLATION

Who would have thought so much could happen in ten days? I began coughing and tested positive for Covid on Friday 18th February. I’m still in social isolation but have tested negative today. It was surprising how accepting of getting the virus I was. What a difference two years, two doses of vaccine and a booster makes. I remember when Covid first hit the UK how unsettled I felt. The world seemed a scary place over which I had no control. It also seemed precious as I didn’t know if I would prove to be one of the casualties of this deadly virus. As I watched the televisions this week with its storms and wars, I felt a frisson of that fear again. I can only imagine what it must be like for the people of Ukraine and pray that world leaders will find a way to stop the war.

So what did I do during my period of isolation? Apart from watching the television you mean? I played around on TikTok and managed to make about ten videos that I will be able to use over the next couple of weeks. I’m finding it quite addictive and very time consuming but also entertaining. I also changed the covers on my first two books, One Year and The Circle. Check them out here and let me know what you think. Despite a shaky start, I also managed to begin writing the second book in my Uist Girl Series. It was a bit of a struggle I must confess but I think I know where I’m going with it now. I’ve been finding it difficult to locate sufficient historical information through my usual desktop research so decided to join a North Uist Facebook group to see if I could fill in some of the blanks in my research. What a treat it has been. People have been so generous with their memories and suggestions of where to look. A big thank you to them.

I haven’t managed to do the next instalment of Chaz and Maz Down Under but will post it next week.
