MARCH 2023

I can’t believe it’s March already. My apologies for not producing a blog for the last couple of months. We’ve had a busy time of it as we decided to get our bathroom refurbished. By the time we got quotes, picked what we wanted and got the work done, it was the middle of February. We love it and would like to thank Sean, Brian and Lucy from Floeasy Plumbing for a great job. We then took Covid again for the third and have only just recovered. It’s a timely reminder that the bug is still there waiting to pounce on the unsuspecting.
However, being stuck at home allowed me to do more writing and I am now at 57,000 words so hope to have a first draft ready by the end of March. I also took a free course on writing book blurbs and would really appreciate your opinion on the two below. Example 1, I wrote before I took the course, and example 2, I wrote after the course. Let me know which one would entice you to buy.
A mother. Two sons. Love and Lies.
Chrissie cried unashamedly when Donald and Roddy left North Uist. They had been her life and were her last link to Roderick. Waving them goodbye, she knew it was the end of her role as their mother and the beginning of their journeys into adulthood. As Chrissie cradled Heather in her arms, treasuring this second chance at motherhood, she prayed no-one would ever discover the secret of her daughter’s birth. She wasn’t strong enough to cope if someone took her baby from her.
But God works in mysterious ways, and when Roddy and Donald rekindle their friendship with Mary Hepworth, they set the stage for the lie Chrissie’s told to be uncovered. As we follow the younger generation in this family saga, we see a love triangle developing and a quest for answers that could split the family forever.
Book 3 in the Uist Girl Series does not disappoint, and it will captivate readers as it continues to follow the trials of Chrissie Macdonald and her family into the depression years of the thirties.
What would you do to protect the truth of your daughter’s birth?

If you’re a fan of stories featuring family relationships and love triangles, XX, the third book in The Uist Girl Series, outstandingly combines romance, coming-of-age, and a commentary on the social and political issues of the time. Hi sis – I prefer the second – when I read the first one I thought I don’t need to read the book now so I prefer the second as it doesn’t give too much away xx
