NOVEMBER 2022

His Bitter Seed, my second book in The Uist Girl Series, was published on 5 November and I’m happy to say sales of both books in the series are selling steadily. If you have read the books and enjoyed them, I would love if you would leave a review. It means such a lot to a writer to hear what readers think of their writing, and it gives other readers the confidence to take a chance on buying the book. I decided to try using NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) to make a start on my third book in the series. So, I’m delighted to let you know I did just that and have managed to write just over 30,000 words in three weeks, but I have a long way to go before I will have a first draft ready.
In between writing, I’ve had a nice relaxing month. On publication day Charlie and I went to Biggar for a Ukulele Festival and had a great time playing and singing in the workshop and watching the Dukes of Uke performing in the evening. I’ve also done quite a bit of reading. One of the books I read is on writing romantic fiction as this third book will incorporate romance into the family saga. We also went to the cinema to see Living, starring Bill Nighy. It was a lovely thought-provoking film and I’ve downloaded the story it was based on by Leo Tolstoy. Book Week Scotland also took place in November, so Bearsden Writers held an event to celebrate. The theme was Origins, and we were given various prompts to stimulate our writing and it was amazing the beautiful pieces of writing that participants came up with. Christmas has also come upon us early. Charlie and I were at a BBC Christmas at the Quay Session as members of the audience last week and I’ve also had my first Christmas lunch with the U3A Scrabble Group, and very nice it was too. I think it’s time to get back to writing before the Christmas rush takes over. Hope you’re staying warm. I must say the Oodie that Charlie bought me is keeping me toastie.
