SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2022

So, I’ve been hard at it since I came back from holiday last month (See what a mess my desk is in above) on the second book in The Uist Girl Series called His Bitter Seed and I’m happy to report that it will be ready for publication in November. As you know, for the first time, I commissioned a developmental editor to look at my work in progress and received her report just before we headed off in our motorhome in August. So, it was sitting waiting for me when I came back. She had made several recommendations for improving the novel and I hope I’ve managed to make the most of her suggestions. My final draft is now out for comment to the six friends and family who are kind enough to read my books and offer constructive critiques. So, fingers crossed they don’t come back with too many negative comments.
I also now have a cover, so will do a cover reveal within the next week or two. I contacted Get Covers, which another author had suggested to me, and was pleasantly surprised by the design, speed and cost of the cover. I would definitely use them again. I still had to look for images myself, but I suppose I would need to pay a lot more if a designer was finding the images as well as designing the layout.
I managed to get a little break when Charlie and I went along to a Ukulele Strum Day on 2nd October at Gartocharn. What a fantastic day we had! It was a day of learning new chords, playing the ukulele, singing like linties and performing. The group I’m in sang Runaway and They Don’t Know about us. I’ve put some photos up.
Finally, like many of you, we’ve been trying to think how we can keep warm and reduce our heating consumption over the winter. The photo above is of us with our great granddaughter in our ‘Oodies’ which is Charlie’s contribution to keeping us warm over the coming season and I must say it’s very cosy.
